TRATASAT
Towards a new era of sustainable space observation
ASE is proud to participate in the TRATASAT project, a pioneering initiative funded by the European Next Generation Fund that seeks to revolutionize the space industry through the development of sustainable surface treatments for satellites.
Driving a more robust and sustainable space race by developing treatments that guarantee high-quality observations and efficient communication (Tratasat)
Why TRATASAT?
The growing demand for satellite services requires more efficient and durable solutions. TRATASAT responds to this need by researching innovative surface treatments that:
- They improve the quality of observations: Reducing stray light and optimizing data transmission.
- Increased satellite lifespan: Thanks to anti-multipactor and anti-PIN coatings, and tin whisker mitigation.
- They promote sustainability: Using more environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing processes.
An ambitious project, funded by the European Union
TRATASAT is an ambitious project supported by the European Next Generation EU funds. This funding will accelerate research and development of new technologies for the space sector, contributing to economic recovery and job creation in Europe.
Likewise, it is a collaborative project that brings together a consortium of renowned companies. Chemplate Materials, as project coordinator, leads this consortium, contributing its extensive experience in the development of advanced materials. Other participants in the Consortium include Finitec, Talento, Titania, and, of course, ASE.
The role of ASE
As a key partner in the project, ASE will be responsible for:
- Design and manufacture of a cutting-edge optical system: We will develop a high-precision optical system to which new surface treatments will be applied.
- Simulation and optimization: We will use simulation tools to evaluate the optical performance of the system and select the most appropriate treatments.
- Testing and validation: We will conduct a series of exhaustive tests to ensure the system meets the most demanding standards in the space industry.
Our goal is to demonstrate the viability of these new treatments and contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and efficient space industry.
Benefits for the space industry
The results of the TRATASAT project will have a significant impact on the space industry, enabling:
- Develop more sophisticated and economical space missions.
- Improve the quality of data obtained by satellites.
- Increase the useful life of satellites in orbit.
- Reducing the environmental impact of the space industry.
A step towards the future
TRATASAT represents an important step toward more sustainable and efficient space exploration. By joining forces with other industry leaders, we are building a future where space technology benefits all of humanity.
