SWIRFIRE PROJECT

 

SWIRFIRE is an innovative project that is developing an advanced system of ultra-compact short-wave infrared (SWIR) cameras for drones (UAVs). These cameras, equipped with state-of-the-art colloidal quantum dot (CQD) technology, enable the detection and recognition of objects in very low visibility conditions.

The consortium responsible for the project includes ASENSE, IMASENIC, QURV, and RTS, each contributing their expertise in optics, sensors, UAV platforms, and project coordination.

The SWIRFIRE project contributes to:

Forest fire prevention and detection: Early, effective and accurate detection of fires, reducing damage and greenhouse gas emissions.

Precision farming: Crop monitoring and optimisation of resource use.

Environmental monitoring: Water and air quality control, soil analysis, and biodiversity protection.

Circular economy: CQD technology and optical system efficiency contribute to reducing the energy footprint.

In short, it enables critical environmental challenges to be tackled very effectively and with low energy and resource expenditure.

SWIRFIRE represents a significant advance in SWIR technology, opening up new possibilities for environmental monitoring and protecting our planet. Furthermore, it not only improves safety and efficiency in various applications, but also promotes environmental sustainability and the circular economy.
