The tests validated the performance of our ultra\u2011compact shortwave infrared (SWIR) camera system for UAVs (drones), featuring cutting\u2011edge colloidal quantum dot (CQD) technology developed by consortium partner QURV.<\/p>\n<p>The SWIRFIRE project, coordinated by RTS and including partners QURV and ASENSE, focuses on enabling object detection and recognition in very low\u2011visibility conditions, critical for applications such as forest fire prevention, precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and circular economy initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>During the indoor flight tests, the SWIRFIRE camera payload demonstrated stable image acquisition during UAV flight maneuvers, confirming vibration resistance and thermal stability. These results mark a significant milestone, proving the system&#8217;s readiness for real\u2011world deployment in fire detection, crop monitoring, water\/air quality control, and soil analysis. The ultra\u2011compact SWIR camera reduces energy consumption while maintaining superior performance, aligning with circular economy principles by leveraging efficient quantum dot technology.<\/p>\n<h2>Next Steps for SWIRFIRE<\/h2>\n<p>Following these successful indoor tests, the project advances to outdoor validation and field trials targeting forest fire prevention and precision agriculture applications.
