Optimization of the optical system of a video laryngoscope
Prodol Meditec, a company in the medical technology sector, needed to improve the image quality of its intubation device, Airtraq, a video laryngoscope that allows live visualization of the glottis. Prodol Meditec required an improvement in the design of the optical system to obtain clear and accurate diagnoses.
Design challenges – our work in optical design
The housing requirements were strict, as the system had to be ergonomically compatible with the characteristics of that area of the human body (the respiratory system). ASENSE optimized the optical system to obtain high-quality images in both direct view and digital camera modes.
In collaboration with the Prodol Meditec engineering team, our optical engineers translated their requirements into concrete specifications for the optical design.
Results
- Resolution improvement of an order of magnitude.
- 44% improvement in viewing angle width.
- Easier to use during the intubation process.
